Boker Automat Kalashnikov 74

Boker Automat Kalashnikov 74

Great combination of looks and performance! This is a bit large and heavy to carry in your pocket, but it would make a good camping knife. The handle is nicely-shaped and feels very secure in your hand. The blade is finished in black, appears to be very durable, and holds an edge. The knife can be completely disassembled to clean or service it. (In fact, this is generally how you get an automatic version of this knife. You buy the original knife as a "push-button" lock knife and then disassemble it and install a Boker coil spring to make it automatic. This is a bit tricky to do...keep track of the little pieces. Also, not all of these knives have the holes drilled in the blade to engage the coil spring, so check it out first.) Because it uses a coil spring, blade opening is smooth and continuous. The blade is locked in place with the blade release button and there is a small lever safety near the spine. Blade lock-up is exemplary.
