Camillus Heat (Tanto)

Camillus Heat (Tanto)

The big brother of the Camillus Sizzle has the same snappy action, but in a much larger size. Like the Sizzle, there are a few too many angles and edges on this knife to make it comfortable to carry, but the fit is tight and the overall quality is excellent. Very little pressure on the "kicker" is required before the blade really snaps to attention. (This is another knife that will make eyes pop when you pull it out and open it.) This particular model has the semi-reflective black finish on a Tanto blade. The pocket clip is about average for a knife of this size, but the "kicker" and the edges will wear holes in your shirts if you keep it on your waistband.

  • MFG: Camillus
  • MODEL: Heat (Black Tanto)
  • TYPE: Assisted-opening
  • ACTION: Side-opening
  • MECHANISM: Coil spring
  • CLOSED LENGTH: 4.5"
  • BLADE LENGTH: 3.75"
  • PROS: Requires very little motion or effort to open, very lightweight, fitting of parts is excellent, strong lock-up, easy to grip and hold tight when wet.
  • CONS: Too many rough edges and too much texture to be comfortable in your pocket.
  • VALUE: Expensive, but well-made and durable.
  • OVERALL OPINION: Good for camping or to keep in a toolbox or purse, but not very practical for daily carry due to the texture, "kicker", and sharp edges. The menacing appearance of this knife is worth the purchase price alone.
